Mark A. Lovejoy

Mark Alan "Bird" Lovejoy, 59, of Bladen, Nebraska passed away February 27, 2024, in Hastings, Nebraska after a long battle with cancer. He was born January 27, 1965, in Red Cloud, Nebraska to Charlie and Linda (Householder) Lovejoy. He was known for his outgoing and loving personality. Mark enjoyed spending time with friends and family, meeting new people, and engaging in outdoor activities like demolition derbies and fishing at the lake. He enjoyed going to Timm's Service and visiting with friends while drinking his morning milk.

Mark went to the Bladen public schools and graduated with the class of 1984. He enjoyed sports, where his favorite was running the two-mile in track. Mark had a fulfilling career starting right out of high school working for Soucek Farms and Johnson Custom Harvesting. For thirty-four years he dedicated his hard work to Bladen Sand & Gravel, where he formed lasting relationships with colleagues and friends. Mark's dedication was evident as he became an essential part of the company, known by many, including his dispatcher turned adopted sister, Rhonda Wenske.

In his free time Mark pursued his hobbies of participating in and watching demolition derbies, fishing and hunting. These activities brought him joy and allowed him to unwind from his work commitments.

Mark will be deeply missed by his family, including his parents, Linda and Charlie Lovejoy; brother, Mike Lovejoy; and sisters, Nadine Lovejoy, Amanda Paquin and Rhonda Wenske; aunt, Anita Holt; along with many nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, cousins and numerous friends. Preceding him in death were his grandparents, aunts, uncles and many great friends.

Services were Saturday, 10:30 am, March 9, 2024, at the United Methodist Church in Bladen with the Rev. Michelle Loeffelholz officiating. Interment was at the Plainview Cemetery.

Memorials are suggested to the Morrison Cancer Center, the Hope Foundation, Heartland Foundation Grace Foundation, Webster County Fairgrounds or the Bladen United Methodist Church.
