Delbert Sibert Obituary

Delbert Dean Sibert, 78, of Cheyenne, WY, passed away July 24, 2019 peacefully at home after a long illness with his family around him.

He was born June 16, 1941, in Superior, NE, to Raymond and Mabel (Killough) Sibert, the third of four children.  He was raised on the family farm in Jewell County, Kansas.  He graduated from Superior High School in 1958.

Delbert wed Melba Bridwell September 5, 1958, and they had three children:  Monte Dean, Kelly Jean and Scott Delbert.

He worked for General Dynamics on the Atlas Missile’s in Cheyenne and Nebraska and at the Ideal Cement in Superior, NE.  Delbert worked for Mountain Bell and retired from AT&T after over 25 years in Wyoming, California and Colorado.

Delbert enjoyed hunting, fishing and camping with family and friends in Wyoming.  He was scoutmaster when his boys were in boy scouts and little league baseball coach. His greatest joy was spending time in Vedauwoo and Elk mountain hunting and riding 4-wheelers.

During his retirement, Delbert loved family time: Oregon and Nebraska family reunions and visiting his brother and sisters.  But time with his children and their families was most precious.

He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Jim Sibert and sister Betty Oltman.

He is survived by his wife, Melba and three loving children:  Monte Sibert, Kelly (Edward) Maneth and Scott Sibert; sister Margaret Sund; six grandchildren, Shawna (Jason) Palmer, Mandy Morrell, Kyleen (Joe) Ashbaugh, Michelle (Paul) Freeman, Justin Sibert and Caleb Maneth, 7 great grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews and cousins, sisters-in-law: Shirley Augustin and Beverly (Gary) Grunkemeyer.

Those who wish may contribute to the Crest Theatre or Superior Auditorium in both of Superior, NE.

A viewing will be held in Cheyenne at Schrader, Aragon and Jacoby Funeral Home Sunday, July 28th from 2:00-5:00 p.m.  Services will be held at Williams Funeral Home in Superior, NE Tuesday, July 30th at 2:00 p.m.  Pastor Ethan Feistner will be officiating.  Burial will be held  at the Evergreen Cemetery in Superior.
