Frances Strnard

Frances W. Strnard, 95, (of Superior, Nebraska) the daughter of David Wm and Ollie (Crawford) Hager was born January 18, 1924 on a farm near Lawrence, NE.  She passed away on Monday, September 23, 2019 at the Good Samaritan Center in Superior, Nebraska.

Frances attended her first eight years at a country school near her home and the first three years of high school at Lawrence.  After her parents moved to a farm near Red Cloud, Frances completed her education at Red Cloud High School, graduating with the class of 1941.

In November of 1941, Frances was united in marriage to Donald Merrill.  Donald lost his life in Berma during World War II.  Frances later was married to Arthur Strnard of rural Bostwick, Nebraska on February 13, 1946 at Mankato, Kansas.  The couple spent 61 years together at their home in Superior, Nebraska until Arthur passed away March 18, 2007.  Frances moved to the Good Samaritan Victorian Legacy and later the Good Samaritan Nursing home both in Superior.

Frances loved to crochet, she made many afghans for her daughter and her grandchildren.  In later years she loved to read books.  In her younger years she enjoyed school and her walks to school regardless of the weather.  Frances always found great pleasure in her pets, especially her dogs.  Frances had been a long time member of the United Presbyterian Church in Superior.

Preceding her in death were her parents; her husbands; her daughter, Wauneta Lea Duffy; three brothers, Jess, Cecil and Elmer Hager and a sister, Lois Wilma Hager.

Left to cherish her memory are her son-in-law Dallas Duffy; grandchildren, Francie Henning; Rick Duffy and and wife Jolene, and Julie Shannon; great grandchildren: D.J. Bridwell, Justin Weaver, Shea Shannon, Heath Shannon, Haley Shannon, Kayla Duffy, Rachel (Duffy) Zohn and Zachary Duffy. Also surviving are great-great  grandchildren, Landry Zohn, Liam Zohn, Mckenzie Bridwell, Braylon Bridwell and Ronan Weaver; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Funeral services were Thursday, 10:30 a.m., September 26, 2019 at the Williams Funeral Home in Superior with Randy Rhoads officiating. Interment was at the Evergreen Cemetery in Superior.  

A memorial fund has been established by the family for later designation.
