Glenda (Koester) Booker

Glenda Lea Booker, the daughter of Margaret Jane (Nicholson) and Glen LaVerne Koester, was born November 23, 1941 at Superior, Nebraska. She departed this life on Thursday, November 21, 2019 at the Providence Medical Center in Wayne, Nebraska at the age of 77 years, 11 months and 27 days.

Glenda received her formal education attending Eckley Consolidated School in Webster County and graduated in 1959 from the Guide Rock High School. She continued her studies at Kearney State Teachers College, earning her B.A. in Elementary Education. Glenda’s teaching career included the Superior, Blue Hill, Red Cloud and Norman public schools.

She was united in marriage with Richard Booker on November 23, 1962. Her love for her family was immeasurable and she especially enjoyed following and attending the sporting activities of her grandsons. She enjoyed reading, writing letters to her friends and family and taking shopping trips. She possessed a lifelong love for animals and in later years especially enjoyed the companionship of her cat, Miss Kitty. In 2015, Glenda moved from Minden to Wayne, Nebraska to be near her family.

Preceding her in death were her parents, Margaret and Glen Koester.

Left to treasure her memory are her daughters, Leigh Ann Milburn and husband Doug of Lenexa, Kansas; and Brenda Oliver and husband Dennis of Pender, Nebraska; two grandsons, Benny and Brady Oliver; her step-mother, Thelma Koester of Lincoln, Nebraska; other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday 11:00 am, November 27, 2019 at the Williams Funeral Home in Red Cloud with the Rev. Warren Schoming officiating. Interment will be at the Guide Rock Cemetery.

Visitation will be held Tuesday, 9:00 am to 8:00 pm, and Wednesday, 8:00 am to service time.
