James Johnson Obituary

James D. Johnson age 75 of Lincoln, formerly of Blue Hill, Nebraska passed away April 17, 2019.  He was born September 3, 1943 in Fort Collins, Colorado to Robert F. and Viola (Carlson) Johnson. 

Jim was a graduate of Bladen High School, attended UNK, received his Associate degrees from Milford Tech and Central Community College.  He was a U.S. Navy veteran serving from 1961-1966.  Jim was a diesel instructor for 29 years at Central Community College, Hastings.  Memberships include American Legion Post 176 in Blue Hill, V.F.W. Post #9984 in Bladen which he was the Commander for 12 years.  As a member of United Methodist Churches in Shelton and Blue Hill, Jim served as Sunday School Teacher and Youth Fellowship Leader.  He also served as an usher.  Jim enjoyed yard work, coin collecting, golf and especially spending time with his grandchildren.

He is survived by his wife of 55 years LeAnn (Vance) Johnson of Lincoln.  Daughters and sons-in-law Renee and John Sayer of Schuyler, Nebraska, Alicia and Mike Cruce of Lincoln, Nebraska.  Sister, Jacque Hueftle Stroup of Holdrege, Nebraska.  Grandchildren, Vance Sayer, Vivi Anne Sayer, Henry Cruce, Eliza Cruce and Juliet Cruce.  Sister-in-law Kim Johnson of Red Cloud, Nebraska.  Preceded in death by his parents, grandchildren Miles James Sayer and Mariah Roos Sayer and brother Stephen Johnson.

A funeral service will be held in Lincoln at 11:00 A.M. on Monday, April 22, 2019 at Wyuka Funeral Home with visitation beginning at 9:00 A.M at Wyuka.  An additional service will be held in Bladen, Nebraska at 11:00 A.M. on Tuesday, April 23, 2019 at the United Methodist Church in Bladen with visitation beginning at 10:00 A.M. at church.

Burial with military honors will be at Eastlawn Cemetery in Bladen.
