Judith Schiermeyer Obituary

Judith (Klee) Schiermeyer, 77, of Guide Rock, Nebraska departed this life on Thursday, December 13, 2018 at the Heritage Care Center in Red Cloud, Nebraska.  She was born February 11, 1941 at Superior, Nebraska and was raised by her grandparents, Beth and Robert Klee. She was baptized at the First Baptist Church on December 9, 1956. She received her formal education attending the Superior, Nebraska schools, graduating with the class of 1959.

Judy was united in marriage with Donald Wayne Schiermeyer on October 14, 1960 at Superior. This union was blessed with four children, Gordon, Deb, Lonnie and Daren. They made their home and raised their family in the Guide Rock community. Judy was employed at the Ideal Market and the Guide Rock Grocery Store.  She also worked for several years with the Green Thumb program at the meal site. She possessed a true love for children and babysat for several families and especially enjoyed her time working at the Guide Rock school. Judy joined the Zion Lutheran Church in Red Cloud in 1964 and she was a member of the Guide Rock American Legion Auxiliary.

She was a wonderful and accomplished seamstress. Judy made most of her children’s and granddaughters’ clothes. She taught Deb and her granddaughters how to sew, knit and crochet. Her world revolved around her children and grandchildren, and most recently her new great granddaughter, Oaklee.  Judy would light up at the mention of her name.  She enjoyed her meals and friends at the Guide Rock Senior Center and “coffee” with her friends and neighbors at the Country Corner. She also looked forward to attending area tractor shows with Don. She will be lovingly remembered for her endless devotion and sacrifices for those she loved and cared about.

Left to cherish her memory are her children, Gordon Schiermeyer and wife Kathy of Guide Rock, Nebraska; Deb Ridgway and husband Perry of Fairfield, Nebraska, Lonnie Schiermeyer of Superior, Nebraska, and Daren Schiermeyer and wife April of Carlton, Nebraska; 3 grandchildren: Stephanie and Brett Kowalski; Jacklyn Ridgway and finance Roland Diaz and Kyle Ridgway; 3 step-grandchildren: Jeremiah Michels; Meggie and Justin McCutcheon; and Jordon Michels and John Lawrence; great granddaughter,  Oaklee Kowalski; step-great grandchildren: Isabel, Rylan and Chase McCutecheon;  sister-in-law, Arcele Simpson of Red Cloud, other relatives and friends.

Preceding her in death were her husband, Don, on October 19, 2012; and sister, Patricia Daugherty.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday 10:30 a.m.,  December 18, 2018 at Zion Lutheran Church in Red Cloud with  Pastor Jeffrey Kuddes officiating.  Burial will be at the Guide Rock Cemetery.

Visitation will be held Sunday and Monday, 9:00 a.m. - 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home and Tuesday, 8:00 a.m. to service time at the church.
