LaVae Glover

Eldon “LaVae” Glover, the son of Verda (Dillon) and Edgar Glover, was born July 19, 1925 in Jewell County, Kansas. He departed this life on Sunday, January 5, 2020 at the Heritage Care Center in Red Cloud, Nebraska at the age of 94 years, 5 months and 16 days.

A lifelong resident of the Northbranch community, LaVae received his formal education attending various country grade schools, the Northbranch Friends Academy thru his junior year and then graduated from the Burr Oak High School.  LaVae then pursued his life’s work as a farmer and carpenter.

He was united in marriage with Ruth Peirce on June 3, 1947 at her parents’ home in Northbranch. This union was blessed with three children, Eugene Lee, Wanda Kay and Gwendolyn Rae. LaVae’s greatest love and enthusiasm in life was for his wife, family, church and farm. He also loved attending his grandchildren’s sporting events and car races. He enjoyed his two old tractors, a John Deere “D” and his favorite ’44 Masey, that he continued to operate until the last few months.

Preceding him in death were his parents; daughter, Wanda Kay; his loving wife, Ruth, and a sister, Wilda.

Left to cherish his memory are his son, Gene and wife, Donna, Glover of Huntsville, Alabama; daughter, Gwen Lewis and husband, Elwin, of Red Cloud; 6 grandchildren: Jason (Michelle) Glover, Devin Glover, Jennifer (Daniel) Vasquez, Christi Lewis, Aaron (Brook) Lewis and Jared (Ashley) Lewis; 13 great grandkids: Brittany Lewis (Caleb) Wagner, Bailey Lewis, Brody Lewis, Levi (Whitney) Vogler, Garrett Vogler, Beau Lewis, Paiton Lewis, Cohen Lewis, Tucker Lewis, Gage Glover, Easton Glover, Alexis Vasquez and Blake Vasquez; 4 great-great grandkids: Gracin, Afton and Ruttlee Wagner and Rachel Vogler; his sister, Estalene Ferguson of Hutchinson, Kansas; other relatives and a host of friends.

Funeral services were Wednesday, 11:00 am, January 8, 2020 at the Northbranch Friends Church with the Rev. Jon Harkness officiating.  Interment was at the Northbranch Cemetery.
