Lyle Dean Niemeyer, the son of Florence (Gragert) and George Niemeyer, was born September 17, 1934 on the farm in Webster County, Nebraska. He departed this life unexpectedly on Wednesday, January 9, 2019 on the farm southeast of Bladen, Nebraska at the age of 84 years, 3 months and 22 days.
He was confirmed at Trinity Lutheran Church in Blue Hill in the spring of 1949. Lyle received his formal education attending rural schools and graduated from the Bladen High School with the class of 1953. In high school he participated in football, basketball, track and band. While in high school, Lyle met and started dating Moniema Andresen. They were united in marriage on October 17, 1954 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Blue Hill. This union was blessed with three children, Duane on July 7, 1955, Debra on September 28, 1960 and Daren on May 17, 1968. Lyle was employed doing land leveling and working in the Republican River Valley area. He worked at the Meat Animal Research Center in Clay Center, and the Animal Clinic at Hastings. His main occupation all of his grown life was his love of farming and raising cattle. Moniema and Lyle celebrated 55 years of marriage before her death on March 25, 2010. He had volunteered for 25+ years being a 4-H Leader and for the NFO in the 1960’s. In his retirement years Lyle enjoyed traveling and he was fortunate to have visited 46 of the 50 states.
On August 20, 2011, Lyle was married to Pam (Albro) Karr at Trinity Lutheran Church in Blue Hill. They made their home in the Bladen community.
Preceding him in death were his parents, George and Florence Niemeyer; his wife, Moniema; grandson, Michael Niemeyer and brother-in-law, Scott Hawthorne.
Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Pam of Bladen, Nebraska; children: Duane Niemeyer and wife, Linda, of Redlands, California; Debra Garrelts and husband, Bruce, of Kearney, Nebraska, and Daren Niemeyer and wife, Buffy, of Bladen, Nebraska; step-children: Vonda Tubbs and husband, Dave; Mike Karr and wife, Diane; Nicole Dietz and husband, Jim; Dan Karr and wife, Mandy. Also surviving are 7 grandchildren; 11 step-grandchildren; 6 great grandchildren, his sister, Nelma J. Hawthorne of Lincoln, Nebraska; mother-in-law, Evelyn Luethke of York, Nebraska; sister-in-law, Sharon Essenberg of Fountain Hills, Arizona; nieces, nephews, other relatives and a host of friends.
Memorials are suggested to the Nebraska Children’s Home or the Harvest Heralds.
Funeral services were Tuesday, 10:30 a.m., January 15, 2019 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Blue Hill with the Rev. Ronald Kuehner officiating. Interment was at the East Lawn Cemetery at Bladen.
