Margreta Williams Obituary

Margreta F. Williams, the daughter of Elsie (Miksch) and Merle Killough, was born November 29, 1922 in Washington County, Colorado. She departed this life on Saturday, July 7, 2018 at the Heritage Care Center in Red Cloud, Nebraska at the age of 95 years, 7 months and 8 days.

Margreta moved with her family as a young girl to the Red Cloud community where she received her formal education and graduated from the Red Cloud High School with the class of 1940.  She was united in marriage with Benjamin C. Williams on April 15, 1942. This union was blessed with three children, Jerry, Norman and Lois. The family made their home farming in Smith county in the Pawnee Township. They left the farm and moved into Red Cloud to make their home in 1985. Margreta worked for a time at Elsie’s Café and then with the Continental Cheese Plant.

She was a member of the Golden Rule Club and in her leisure time enjoyed cooking and taking care of her home. Through the years Margreta developed an amazing collection of almost three thousand salt & pepper shakers, which included notations of their history and how she acquired each one. Margreta was a loving, caring wife, mother and grandmother and her love for her family was immeasurable.

Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband, Ben, on September 18, 2010; a great granddaughter, Stacy Conway; and four sisters, Wilma Hasty, Mary Ellen Seerly, Retha Leonard and Betty Flohrs.

Left to cherish her memory are her children, Jerry Williams and wife, Mary Anne, of Arvada, Colorado; Norman Williams and wife, Rebecca, of Papillion, Nebraska, and Lois VanWey and husband, Dennis, of Red Cloud, Nebraska; 8 grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren; a sister, Renetta Potter, of Las Vegas, Nevada; other relatives and friends.

Funeral services were Tuesday, 10:30 a.m., July 10, 2018 at the Williams Funeral Home Chapel in Red Cloud with the Rev. Gary Bennett officiating.  Interment was at the Red Cloud Cemetery.
