Mary F. Cline, the youngest of thirteen children, was born to Maud (Hendersen) and Frank Watkins on October 3, 1934 at Red Cloud, Nebraska. She departed this life on Wednesday, January 1, 2020 at the Franklin County Memorial Hospital in Franklin, Nebraska at the age of 85 years, 2 months and 28 days.
Mary received her formal education attending the Red Cloud schools. She was united in marriage with Wyvern Cline on December 31, 1951 at Franklin, Nebraska. They lived in a number of communities in Nebraska, Kansas, Oklahoma, Texas and Colorado while Wyvern was employed as a heavy equipment operator. In 1964, they returned to Franklin to make their home and raise their family. While living in Kansas she was an active member of the Baptist Church.
After their return to Franklin, she was employed with Garten’s Grocery Store and the Franklin Nursing Home. Mary deeply enjoyed living on the farm and helping Wyvern work the cattle and assist in the farming operations. Her greatest love and enthusiasm in life was for her family and especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was affectionately known as Nanny and she lovingly welcomed all into her home. She loved cooking and feeding her kids and grandkids. Her love for her family and friends was immeasurable and she leaves a legacy of love, laughter and compassion for all who were blessed to know her.
She will be fondly remembered for her sense of humor and quick wit. In her leisure time she was an avid reader and for many years loved traveling the country taking trips with Wyvern. As her children was growing up she volunteered as a 4-H Leader and was enthusiastically involved with their many projects and events with the horses.
She was preceded in death by her parents and all twelve brothers and sisters.
Left to cherish her memory are her husband, Wyvern Cline of Franklin, Nebraska; son and daughter-in-law, Randy and Dalene Cline of Franklin, Nebraska; daughter, Marla Johnson of Franklin; 4 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren: Cory Cline and wife, Melissa, and children, Kingston and Beckett; Raesha Cline; Wade Johnson and wife, Sheila, and children, Shelby, Ford and Lincoln; and Katie Johnson and son, Ayden; numerous other relatives and her many friends.
Memorial services were Tuesday, 10:30 am, January 7, 2020 at the Evangelical Free Church in Franklin, Nebraska with the Rev. Bill E. Stearns officiating.
A memorial fund has been established by the family for later designation.
