Opal Pauline (Jones) Drapal Nelson

Opal Pauline Jones Drapal Nelson (of Edgar, NE) was born August 29, 1931 to Paul and Etta (Headley) Jones at Webber Kansas.  Pauline departed this life Tuesday November 13, 2018 at CHI/St. Francis Hospital in Grand Island Nebraska at the age of 87 years.

Pauline attended Superior Public School and on December 20th, 1950 married Junior James Drapal at the First Baptist Church in Superior, Nebraska.  To this union four children were born- Jimmy Lee, Linda Diane, Cynthia Sue, and Johnny Paul.  Pauline spent four years in Wyoming and Illinois during Junior’s Air Force service.  After Junior’s discharge they settled on a farm in the Fairfield Nebraska area and then moved into Edgar Nebraska.  Pauline worked many years at the Edgar Nursing Home. 

Preceding her in death were her parents Paul and Etta Jones,   her sister and brother in law Doris and Warren Bird, sister in law Marie Jones, Nephews Stevie Jones and Ryan Thayer, Sons Jimmy and Johnny Drapal and her husband Junior Drapal.  Pauline married Loren G Nelson in 1990 and Loren passed away in 2003.

Survivors include daughter’s Linda Griess and family, Cynthia Springer and family, Daughter in law JoAnne Jensen and family.  Sister’s Jean Zimmerman and family, Joy Thayer and family, Brother Don Jones.  Brother in law’s Roy Drapal and family, Edmund Drapal and family, and numerous nephews and nieces.

Memorial services were Saturday 10:30 am, November 17, 2018 at the Edgar Christian Church.  Pastor David King will be officiating.  Inurnment was at the Edgar Cemetery, Edgar, NE.
