Richard E. "Dick" Schott, the son of Reta (Williams) and Franklin LeRoy Schott, was born January 6, 1941 at Saratoga, Wyoming. He departed this life on Saturday, June 15, 2019 at the Salina Regional Health Center in Salina, Kansas at the age of 78 years, 5 months and 9 days.
Dick grew up in the Nelson, Nebraska community and received his formal education attending and graduating from the Nelson High School with the class of 1959. Dick was employed with the NAPA store in Superior and later with Sidles Auto Supply; he had owned and operated the Nelson Lumber Yard. He was united in marriage with Anita Hall Helton in 1974. They resided in the Lincoln area for many years where Dick worked as a real estate agent and custom builder. In 2017, they moved to Brookville, Kansas where Dick enjoyed working in Salina at the Rolling Hills Zoo.
Surviving are his wife, Anita of Brookville, Kansas; former wife Dorothy (Paulsen) Schott of Kenesaw, NE; daughters, Kim Watt and husband Dr. Tim of Rapid City, South Dakota; Jennifer Helton of New Port Richey, Florida and Robin Prososki and husband Steve of Corvallis Oregon; sons, Brent Schott and wife Elizabeth of Lincoln, Nebraska and Barney Helton of Lincoln, Nebraska; 8 grandchildren; 2 great grandchildren; a sister, Barbara Fitchett of Lincoln, Nebraska and two brothers, Alvin Schott and wife Judy of Nelson, Nebraska and Royce Schott and wife Brenda of Nelson, Nebraska.
Private family burial was Saturday, June 22, 2019 at the Nelson City Cemetery, Nelson, Nebraska with Pastors Joyce and Ivan Dean officiating. Following there was a gathering of remembrance for Dick with family and friends at the Nelson Community Center, Nelson, Nebraska. A memorial service was held on Monday 11:00 am June 24, 2019 at the Bennet Community Church in Bennet, Nebraska.
