Robert De Lay Obituary

Robert L. De Lay, 74, passed away peacefully on Friday, October 25, 2019 at Grand Island, Nebraska. Robert was born to Ilene (Bailey) and Clifford De Lay on November 12, 1944 at Guide Rock, Nebraska.

He grew up on the family farm eight miles north of Guide Rock and graduated from the Guide Rock High School with the class of 1962. Following high school he graduated from refrigeration school in Omaha and was employed in Manhattan, Kansas.  In 1965, he was drafted into the United States Army and was stationed in Orleans, Frances. Bob was honorably discharged in 1967. 

He then gained employment with the Superior/Deshler Propane Company. Bob later purchased Harvard Chemical Company in Harvard, Nebraska and operated it for several years. Upon retirement, he moved back to the family farm as farming was his first love.  He enjoyed traveling and fishing. Bob visited Hawaii several time.

Preceding him in death were his parents, Clifford and Ilene De Lay, and brothers, Eugene and Duane and two nephews.

Bob leaves to celebrate his life a sister, Karen De Lay of Alma, Nebraska, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Graveside services with military honors were Tuesday, 11:00 am, October 29, 2019 at the Guide Rock Cemetery with the Rev. Gary Bennett officiating.
