Rogene Eckhardt Obituary

Lawrence "Rogene" Eckhardt, the son of Edna Marie (Kimle) and Lawrence D. Eckhardt, was born August 30, 1946 at Minden, Nebraska. He departed this life on Tuesday, June 12, 2018 at the Heritage Care Center in Red Cloud, Nebraska at the age of 71 years, 9 months and 12 days.

Rogene received his formal education attending the Campbell schools and graduated with the class of 1964. In August of 1966, he entered the United States Army to serve his country. Following his discharge from service, Rogene returned to the Campbell area where he farmed. He later was employed with Western Land Roller in Hastings where he worked as a welder for a number of years. In 1998, Rogene started Eckhardt Trucking which he operated until 2006, when he retired and moved to his home south of Riverton.

In his leisure time he enjoyed pursuing a number of interests and activities including hunting and fishing.  He greatly enjoyed following and attending NASCAR races around the country. Rogene also enjoyed restoring old tractors and participating a tractor drives around the area.

Preceding him in death were his parents, and a granddaughter, Cheyenne Eckhardt.

Left to treasure his memory are his sons, Alen Eckhardt and wife, Betsy, of Oseloa, Nebraska and son, Denver; and John Eckhardt of Hampton, Nebraska and children, Christian and Kennedy.  Also surviving are two brothers, Doug Eckhardt and wife Donna of Riverton; and Gordon Eckhardt of Riverton; other relatives and his many friends.

Funeral services were Saturday, 10:30 a.m., June 16, 2018 at the Williams Funeral Home in Red Cloud with the Rev. Gary Bennett officiating. Interment was at the Walnut Creek Cemetery at Inavale.
