Willa Mae Schutte the daughter of John and Helen (Ritterbush) Petty was born October 13, 1939 in Nelson, Nebraska. She departed this life on Wednesday, October 17, 2018 at the Saunders Medical Center in Wahoo, Nebraska at the age of 79 years and 4 days.
Willa Mae graduated from Nelson High School with the class of 1957. Willa Mae was united in marriage to Paul Schutte on February 10, 1959 at Superior, Nebraska. This union was blessed with the birth of four children, two sons and two daughters. Paul and Willa Mae lived in both the Lawrence and Nelson communities. Willa had worked as a secretary at South Central Public Power, Superior Deshler and later at the Nelson Insurance Agency.
Willa Mae was very active in the Red Hatters and the Nelson American Legion Auxiliary. Willa Mae enjoyed walking, gardening, camping, and spending time with family and friends. More than any of these activities she loved cooking for her children and grandchildren, especially baking apple pies. Her greatest joy was watching her grandchildren in all of their activities.
She is preceded in death by her parents, husband Paul, step father Cleo Doggett, brother David Petty and son-in-law Mike Lynch.
Survivors include: sons: John Schutte and wife Shari of Nelson, Nebraska; Allen Schutte and wife Susan of Elkhorn, Nebraska; daughters: Mary Lynch of Elkhorn, Nebraska and Paula Dahl and husband Tom of Deshler, Nebraska; sister Mary Ellen Culbertson of Nelson, Nebraska; grandchildren: Josh and Brittney Lynch; Randi Schutte; Ridge Schutte and wife Caroline; Whitney, Ashley and Briana Dahl; Kaylee and Jaycee Schutte; great grandchildren: Jasmine and Kane; nieces, nephews other relatives and a host friends.
Mass of Christian Burial was Monday 10:00 am, October 22, 2018 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Superior, Nebraska with Rev. Ferdinand Boehme officiating. Burial was at the Nelson Cemetery, Nelson, Nebraska.
The rosary was recited on Sunday 7:00 pm at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Nelson, Nebraska.
Memorials in lieu of flowers may be directed to the family.
