William E. "Bill" Drake the son of Roy and Freda (Patrick) Drake was born November 9, 1931 at Courtland, Kansas. He departed this life on Monday June 10, 2019 at the Good Samaritan Center in Superior, Nebraska at the age of 87 years.
Bill grew up on the Formoso, Kansas area and he graduated from Formoso High School with the class of 1950. After high school Bill enlisted in the United States Navy. On August 16, 1953 Bill was united in marriage to Carol Cleveland at Hastings, Nebraska. This union was blessed with the birth of three children two sons and a daughter. After his discharge from the Navy, Bill and Carol moved to Hastings, Nebraska where Bill was employed at Johnson TV. In 1957 they moved to Superior, Nebraska where they owned and operated Drake TV and Electric for many years. Bill also worked as the maintenance supervisor at the Superior Good Samaritan Center. In his earlier years Bill enjoyed coaching basketball as well as baseball, camping, fishing, gardening and canning with his wife Carol. Bill and Carol always looked forward to the many bus trips they took to different casinos. However he never allowed any of these to diminish his first love that for his children and grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his parents, wife Carol on August 17, 2016, brother Roy Drake and Fred Drake.
Survivors include his sons: Doug Drake and wife Deb of Clay Center, NE; Curt Drake and wife Julie of Superior, NE; daughter Pam Russell and husband Tom of Trumbull, NE; sister Mary Wessells of Placerville, CA; brother Ray Drake of Hot Springs Village, AR; grandsons: Nick Drake and wife Lindsay; Matt Russell; Trevis Trautman and wife Jessica; Danny Russell; Robby Russell and Kaleb Drake; granddaughters: Jamie Bachman and husband Michael; Jillian Sweeney and husband Derek; McKayla Russell; Carmisha Alliy; Chloe Drake; 16 great grandchildren; nieces, nephews other relatives and a host of friends.
Funeral services were Friday 10:30 am, June 14, 2019 at the United Methodist Church in Superior, Nebraska with Pastor Brian Faust officiating. Burial with military honors was held in the Evergreen Cemetery in Superior, Nebraska.
