Albert Henry Cook

Albert H. Cook, son of Anita (Wells) and Shelton Cook was born October 1st 1938 in Lucerne CO. He departed this life surrounded by family at his home in Deweese NE, Tuesday, July 27th 2021 at the age of 82. Albert married Joan Chvala of Lawrence NE on February 11, 1961. They were blessed with 2 sons and 2 daughters.

Albert graduated from high school in Marysville, KS and enjoyed playing team sports. Albert was very competitive, a trait he passed down to his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. As a working lineman in NE, he would pole race his co-workers and Joan would spend those evenings removing splinters from his legs. After moving to Salina KS, Al worked for a cable company before joining Tony’s Pizza. Working as a 3rd shift maintenance supervisor he was able to attend/coach sporting events his children were involved in. He enjoyed playing fast pitched softball, bowling and cards. In 1988, he and Joan moved from Salina to Deweese to open the Horseshoe Inn.

Albert was preceded in death by his parents, twin sister Alberta and brothers Cecil and Guy.

He is survived his brother Bill, sisters Norma, Muriel and June; sons: John (Martie) Scott (Sara) both of Topeka KS; daughters: Cindy (David) Loring of Orland, ME and Terry (Shawn) Gordanier of Deweese, NE; grandchildren: Melissa Estes (Brian), Brian Loring, Katie (Alex) Howard, Kayla (Nathan) Force, Trevor Gordanier, Trace Gordanier, Rilie (Will) Jones, and Bryce Cook; great grandchildren Juniper and Oscar Estes and Taegan Jones and Griffin Howard; many nieces, nephews and dear friends.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday 10:00 AM, July 30, 2021 at Our Lady of Assumption Catholic Church in Deweese, NE. Father Corey Harrison will be officiating, Rosary service will be at 9:30 AM. Albert will be buried in Assumption Cemetery, Deweese. Condolences may be sent to the family at www.wmsfh.com Williams Funeral Home Superior NE is in charge of arrangements. In lieu of flowers memorials may be sent to the family or a farvorite charity.
