Alberta Marie White died peacefully on Friday December 4th, 2020 at her childhood home. Services were held December 9th, 2020 at the Williams Funeral Home in Edgar, NE with Pastor Willie Tryon officiating. Inurnment was held in the Edgar Cemetery. Condolences may be sent to the family at wmsfh.com.
Alberta was born November 23, 1933 to Max and Hannah (Harrison) Overturf. She attended grade school at Excelsior country school and graduated from Edgar High School in 1951. In August of 1951, she traveled to California to marry Jerry White, her high school sweetheart before he left for Korea. After Jerry's discharge from the marines, the couple moved back to Nebraska where they farmed and raised livestock during their 40 year marriage. They were blessed with four children; Deborah, David, Dean, and Jeannie.
Alberta continued to farm and raise cattle for 17 years after Jerry died and then in 2006 she retired and moved to Hastings. Then in 2013 she moved to college view where she enjoyed participating in all of the activities and made many good friends.
Alberta was a member of the Church Of the Plains in Edgar where she served as Treasurer, was a member of the Presbyterian Women and was one of the founders of the quilting group. Her greatest enjoyment was spending time with her family and especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She enjoyed gardening, reading, quilting, puzzles and shopping with her long time friend Emma Skinner.
Alberta was preceded in death by her husband and son Dean. She is Survived by her daughters Deb (Lyle) Karnatz of Edgar; Jeannie Betten of Hebron; and son David of Hastings; seven grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.
