Arcele L. Simpson the daughter of Ernest F. and Erna M. (Hornbussel) Schiermeyer was born May 29, 1941, at Superior, Nebraska.  She departed this life on Sunday January 16, 2022, at the Heritage Care Center in Red Cloud, Nebraska at the age of 80 years 7 months and 18 days.

Arcele was confirmed and baptized at the Salem Lutheran Church north of Superior, NE.  As a young girl Arcele attended Sunnyside Country School and graduated from Guide Rock High School with the class of 1958.  Arcele worked in Holdrege, NE for several years after graduation and then moved to Denver, CO and began a 32-year career with Cosmopolitan/Westin Hotels as a Reservations Manager.  During her employment she transferred to hotels in Seattle, Omaha, Tulsa and Phoenix before moving back to Denver in the late 70’s.  She was united in marriage to John Simpson on August 25, 1984 at Salem Lutheran Church.  After she retired from the hotel business in 1992, the couple moved to Nebraska in 1992 and lived on the family farm and operated a home-based craft business.  Arcele also worked at the Red Cloud Chief from 2001 to 2008.

John and Arcele moved from Guide Rock to Parkview Circle in Red Clou in 2010 where she continued t live after John passed away.  She truly enjoyed the close friendships that she made while living there.

Arcele was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Red Cloud; where she was active in the Ladies Aide and their quilting group.  Arcele loved her Church and her church family.  She spent many hours cutting and sewing quilt blocks for the quilting group. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her. Arcele  was always described as an incredibly sweet and kind person and was always willing to lend a helping hand.

She is preceded in death by her parents, husband John; brothers Loren Schiermeyer and Donald Schiermeyer and sister in law  Judith Schiermeyer.

Left to cherish her memory are her stepsons: Joe and Lindsay Simpson; and David Simpson and Bernadette Winters; niece Deb Ridgeway and husband Perry; nephews Gordon Schiermeyer and wife Kathy; Lonnie Schiermeyer; Daren Schiermeyer and wife April; great nieces Stephanie Kowalski and husband Brett and great great niece Oaklee;  Jacklyn Diaz and husband Roland and great nephew Kyle Ridgeway other relatives and her many friends. Arcele always said her niece Deb was the daughter she never had!

Funeral services were Friday 2:00 pm, January 21, 2022, at the Zion Lutheran Church in Red Cloud with Pastor Jeffrey Kuddes will be officiating.  Burial was in the Red Cloud Cemetery, Red Cloud.
