Ardell Talkington Obituary

Clarence Ardell Talkington, the son of Mildred Beryl (Ritchie) and Clarence Talkington, was born March 31, 1936 at Sutton, Nebraska. He departed this life on September 4, 2020 at his home northwest of Red Cloud, Nebraska at the age of 84 years, 5 months and 3 days.

Ardell received his forma education attending the Sutton schools and then moved to California where he attended Junior College and graduated from Cal State at Berkley with his Bachelor’s Degree. A veteran of the United States Army, Ardell enlisted on December 2, 1959 and was stationed overseas  in Germany. In July of 1960, he was united in marriage with Jeannie Patigan.  Following his discharge from service on February 15, 1962 they made their home living in California. Ardell and Jeannie moved their family to Nebraska in 1969, making their home on the farm south of Red Cloud.  He was also employed for a period of time with the Continental Cheese Plant in Red Cloud. They later purchased their present home northwest of town.  Ardell then embarked on a forty plus year career as the Highway Superintendent for Webster County, retiring in 2007.

Ardell possessed a lifelong passion for music and loved playing his trombone. He enjoyed gardening and researching article on health and nutrition.  His love for his family was immeasurable and he was happiest when they were spending time together.

Preceding him in death were his parents; a grandson, Abe Talkington and a brother, Eldon Talkington.

Left to treasure his memory are his loving wife, Jeannie; three children, Archie Talkington and wife Carlose of Omaha, Nebraska; Becky Olson and husband, Bill, of Fremont, California and Daniel Talkington of Oakland, California; six grandchildren; one great-grandchild; a brother, Dale Talkington and wife Becky of Dorchester, Nebraska; three sisters, Donna Talkington of Crete, Nebraska; Joyce Talkington of Red Cloud, Nebraska and Elaine Holtzen of Inavale, Nebraska; other relatives and a host of friends.

Funeral services were Friday, 10:00 am, September 11, 2020 at the Cornerstone Assembly of God Church in Red Cloud with Rev. Steve Wilson officiating. Interment was at the Walnut Creek Cemetery south of Inavale.

DUE TO THE CURRENT PANDEMIC ALL GUESTS ARE ASKED TO WEAR A FACE MASK AND PRACTICE SOCIAL DISTANCING.
