Buck Dewayne Bower the son of Lorance and Bessie (Field) Bower was born January 3, 1932, 3 miles north of Riverton, Nebraska in Franklin County. He departed this life on Sunday August 1, 2021, at the Franklin County Hospital in Franklin, Nebraska.
Buck received his education at the Riverton school where he graduated with the class of 1950. Buck was veteran of the Korean conflict. Having served with the United States Army, he was in the military police, from 1952 to 1954. Buck received the National Defense service medal, the Good conduct medal, two Korean service medals and two United Nation’s service medals. He was a life member of the Disabled American Veterans.
On October 21, 1955, buck was united in marriage to Verna Mae Walker at Red Cloud, NE. This union was blessed with the birth of two children Teresa and Michael.
Buck worked for Rentler Construction south of Riverton as subforeman laying pipe for irrigation before he was called for service.
When Buck returned from the military and got married the couple moved to Wichita, KS where he worked for Beech Aircraft as a painter. The moved back to Riverton and made their home. Buck went to work for Schwartz truck bodies in Hastings, NE as a shop foreman, then to Hastings Asphalt as plant foreman and finally went to work for the county of Franklin and worked on the bridge crew until his retirement.
He is preceded in death by his parents, wife, Verna; brother Jack, sister-in-law Betty Bower; brothers=in-laws Orville Walker, Donald Walker, Rod Liberty and in laws Alva and Bessie Walker.
Survivors include daughter Teresa Tunender and husband Stephen of Bartlett, NE; son Michael Bower and wife Shelly of Franklin, NE 5 grandchildren: Cody and Alisha Bower, Monique, Stephen Jr and MaKayla Tunender; great grandson Michael Pizzuto; sisters: Shirley Liberty of Emporia, KS and Marie Shelinbarger of Greenwich, KS; brothers-in-law Eldon Walker of Oswego, KS and Edward Walker of Agusta, KS; sister-in-laws: Necia Uden of Naponee, KS and Sharon Walker of Agusta, KS; nieces, nephews other relatives and a host of friends.
