Carol Keen Obituary

Carol Jean (Nusbaum) Keen, an only child, was born January 19, 1933 to Glen Mitchell Nusbaum and Ruth Ellen (Thurston) Nusbaum in Hunter Kansas. Carol graduated from high school in 1950. One year later, on September 30, 1951 Carol married “Sonny” James H Keen in Glen Elder Kansas. To this union five children were born: Donna Keen/Bill Masten of Lake George, Colorado, Dr. B Doe Keen/Dr. Bob Gilkerson of Rogersville, Missouri , Jan Rosekrans/Dennis Rosekrans Pillager, Minnesota, Troi Ellis/Stan Ellis of Red Cloud, Nebraska, and Jim/Roxie Keen of Fowler, Colorado.

Carol had 15 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren.  Carol ended life on earth, February 23, 2020 and entered eternal life and went to be with the Lord and her husband Sonny.  Carol and Sonny had friends all over this country and lived in numerous places during their almost 60 years of marriage.

Carol met a young cowboy back in 1950 in Glen Elder, Kansas and in 1951 they were joined in matrimony and moved to a ranch in Colorado. They later moved from Colorado to Wyoming, with their 4 daughters.  Sonny worked for the TA Cattle Company between Saratoga and Rawlins, Wyoming where the fifth child, a son, was born to Sonny and Carol.

Then in 1966, the family moved back to Colorado and then into the southwest corner of Nebraska and began ranching. In 1976, the family moved to central Minnesota where they farmed, ranched, and trained horses.

Carol worked as the Office Manager of the Twin Forks Veterinary Clinic in Benkelman, Nebraska and as an Admissions and Switchboard Operator at St Gabriel's Hospital in Little Falls, Minnesota. However, her primary job and passion in life was being a Wife, Mother, and Grandmother.

She would want to be remembered as a loving wife and mother who created a happy home. She was also known for being able to feed a multitude of people in a moments notice when Sonny would invite friends, family, and strangers in to eat without warning.

Visitation will be held Tuesday, 8:00 am - 8:00 pm at the Williams Funeral Home in Red Cloud with the family present from 6:00 p. - 8:00 pm.
