Delbert Bird Obituary

Delbert Leroy Bird the son of Lester and Margaret (Thompson) Bird was born March 25, 1933 in Florence, Kansas.  He departed this life on Friday, March 11, 2022 at the Park Villa Nursing Home in Clyde, Kansas at the age of 88 years.

Delbert attended school at Chase, Kansas until the family moved to Esbon when he was in the fifith grade.  There, Delbert attended Esbon school.  He was drafted into the United States Army in 1953, being stationed at Fort Hood and Fort Riley.

Delbert was united in marriage to Patricia Cochran on May 27, 1956 at the Ash Creek Church at Esbon, KS.  The lived on a farm north of Esbon.  To this union two children were born, a son Rex and a daughter Ramona.  Delbert was devoted to his family and enjoyed spending time with them at family gatherings.  Delbert never knew a stranger and always had a story to tell.  Delbert was farmer with diversified crops and raised cattle and hogs.  He enjoyed his two miniature black ponies and his cart which he drove in local parades.  He enjoyed farming and mechanics on cars, trucks and tractors.  He drove truck over the road for many years.  He was the transportation director and a bus driver for Burr Oak and White Rock schools for many years.

He was a member of the Northbranch Friends Church.  He served as an usher and enoyed welcoming people to Sunday worship.

He is preceded in death by his parents, wife Patricia, and brothers Larry, Robert and Donald Bird and great granddaughter Kyree Tiemeyer.

Survivors include his son Rex Bird and wife Rhonda of Belleville, KS and daughter Ramona Tiemeyer and husband Mark of Morrowville, KS; five grandchildren: Ryan Bird and wife Jacie of Ashland, NE; Regina Krull and husband Spencer of Kearney, NE: Aaron Tiemeyer and wife Jamie of Washington, KS; Alec Tiemeyer and wife Erin of  Linn, KS; Andrew Tiemeyer and wife Morgan of Linn, KS; 6 great grandchildren: Blake and Alaina Bird; Raelyn and Bexley Krull; Henley and Emory Tiemeyer and a host of relatives and friends.

Services will be held this Wednesday 2:00 pm, March 16, 2022 at the Northbranch Friends church at Northbranch, KS.  Pastor Jon Harkness officiating. Burial will be held at the Prairie Home Cemetery, near Esbon, KS.  Condolences may be sent to the family at wmsfh.com.  Memorials may be given to the Northbranch Friends Church, Northbranch, KS.  Williams Funeral Home of Superior, NE is in charge of the arrangements.
