Dever Karr Obituary

Dever A. Karr, the son of Matilda D. (Schulz) and William P. Karr, was born April 18, 1928 at Bladen, Nebraska. He departed Thursday, February 20, 2020 at the Heritage Care Center in Red Cloud, Nebraska at the age of 91 years, 9 months and 2 days.

A lifelong resident of Webster county, Chub as he was affectionately known by family and friends, received his formal education attending the Bladen schools and graduated with the class of 1946. He was united in marriage with Arlene Lockhart on March 28, 1948 at Bladen. This union was blessed with two children, Jim and Meleah. Chub was employed for a period of time with Turner Brothers Classcloth in Bladen and then with the Navy Ammunition Depot at Hastings. He also worked with Bladen Sand & Gravel. His life’s passion was farming and raising registered Angus Cattle.

In his leisure time Chub loved to turkey hunt with his friends around the state of Nebraska. He was an avid reader of western novels and in earlier years enjoyed bowling.  His love for his family was immeasurable and he especially cherished the time they spent together.  He was a member of the Bladen Methodist Church and the American Angus Association.

Preceding him in death were his parents, Matilda and William Karr; and two brothers, Clayton and Norman Karr.

Left to treasure his memory are his loving wife, Arlene; son, Jim Karr and wife, Janet, of Bladen, Nebraska; daughter Meleah Armes and husband, Geoff of Bladen; 5 grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; two sisters, Dolores Krichau of Bladen and LaVeda Berns of Blue Hill; other relatives and a host of friends.

Funeral services were Thursday, 10:30 am, February 27, 2020 at the Methodist Church in Bladen with the Rev. Dan Albers officiating. Interment was at the East Lawn Cemetery in Bladen.

A memorial fund has been established by the family for later designation.
