Dorothy LeAnn Lipker was born December 11, 1951 in Nelson, Nebraska. She passed away on March 9, 2021 at the Brodstone Hospital in Superior, Nebraska after a brave battle with cancer.
LeAnn grew up in the Angus, NE area where she loved the Little Blue River and the Cottonwood Trees. She worked on the family farm alongside of her parents Kenneth James and Dorothy Maude (Blevins) Grossman.
LeAnn and Leonard, her twin brother were baptized on July 21, 1966 in a river at Camp O’Cedar and was confirmed into the Lutheran faith in 1982 at Centennial Lutheran Church in Superior, NE. LeAnn went to country school through the 8th grade at Oxbow 16 Country School. LeAnn went on to Nelson High School and graduated with the class of 1970. LeAnn continued her education earning an Associate’s degree in Business Secretary from Central Community College in Hastings, NE. LeAnn worked at the college until March 25, 1972 when she married Dorrel Lipker of Oak, NE at the Angus Community Church. To this union were born two children: Nikki Lyn and Corey Edwin. LeAnn and Dorrel worked side by side in the construction and farming business.
LeAnn loved the farm, she always had a big garden and loved her chickens, ducks, turkeys, and guineas. LeAnn would always get upset when the neighbors would try to hit the guineas on the road. LeAnn loved chickens so much she took on the job of chicken superintendent at the county fair; she was always known as the “chicken lady” to many children. She received an outstanding leader award in 2019.
LeAnn inherited from her mother the ability to cook. She could make the best homemade pies, cinnamon rolls and onion buns. LeAnn worked at the Broken Spoke in Ruskin, NE. She and Sandra Shaw would try anything out of a cookbook. A deep friendship started; LeAnn and Sandra were just like sisters. Until LeAnn would win more football pools, their friendship is still extraordinarily strong.
Dorrel and LeAnn put together the Nelson Alumni banquet for 25 plus years, she loved to meet people. Dorrel and LeAnn loved to play couples golf and watch their kids and grandchildren grow and play their sporting events.
Until her illness LeAnn and Dorrel drove school buses for the Deshler Public Schools.
LeAnn is preceded in death by her parents, two brothers Richard and Lynn Grossman.
Those who mourn her passing but rejoice in her eternal life in Christ includes: husband of 48 years Dorrel Lipker of Oak, NE; children: Nikki Drohman and husband Dustin of Ruskin, NE; Corey Lipker of Oak, NE; her grandchildren of Oak, NE: Molley Lorne and Jase Tyler Drohman and adopted granddaughter Tori Schoof of Ruskin, NE; her twin brother Leonard Grossman and wife Gail of Florida; Harland Lipker and wife Ruth of Shokopee, MN; nieces Sonja Lipker of Anchorage, Alaska; Sarah Hartley and husband Matt of Shaker Heights, Ohio; Rebeca Parker and husband Ralph of Kansas City, MO; Kenny Grossman of Copper Canyon, TX; Dudley Grossman and wife Laura of Kansas City, MO; Teri Jo Grossman Massey and husband Shaun of Hutchinson, KS; other relatives, church family and friends.
