James Duane Doyle, the son of Anna Alice (McPartland) and Joseph Francis Doyle, was born February 2, 1933 in Smith County, Kansas. He departed this life surrounded by his family on Monday, September 28, 2020 at his home in Smith County, Kansas north of Lebanon at the age of 87 years, 7 months and 12 days.
A lifelong resident of Smith County, Duane received his formal education attending Crow Hill rural school and graduated from the Lebanon High School with the class of 1951. A veteran of the United States Army, he served his country from May of 1953 to May of 1955. Duane was united in marriage with Donna Lemke on September 6, 1958 at St. Stephens Catholic Church south of Lawrence, Nebraska. They returned to the family farm north of Lebanon where they ran their dairy operation for 68 years. In 1952, Duane and his brother-in-law, Bill McNiece, drove to Wisconsin to purchase dairy cows to start their herds. Duane was proudly joined by his sons in the farming and dairy operation.
Preceding him in death were his parents; his brother and sister-in-law, Charles and Hazel Doyle; and sister and brother-in-law, Bernice and Bill McNiece.
Left to cherish his memory are his loving and dedicated wife, Donna; three sons, Joe, Larry and Robert Doyle; other relatives and friends.
Funeral services were Saturday, 10:30 am, October 3, 2020 at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Red Cloud with Fr. Paul Frank officiating. Interment was at the Sacred Heart Cemetery in Red Cloud.
