Edgar "Ed" Jones

Edgar J. “Ed” Jones, the son of Velma Alvine (Hartman) and Robert Lee Jones, was born December 13, 1940 in Perkins County, Nebraska. He departed this life on April 26, 2022 at the Mary Lanning Hospital in Hastings, Nebraska at the age of 81 years, 4 months and 13 days.

Ed was united in marriage with Carol Kay Hubert on November 27, 1966 at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Blue Hill, Nebraska. This union was blessed with four children, Brenda, Troy, Dave and Heidi. The family made their home in the Bladen area where Ed farmed. He was later employed for a period of time with the Webster County Road Department, running the road grader maintaining the county roads. He then began his employment with Bladen Sand & Gravel where he worked until his retirement at the age of 75.

Ed was actively involved in his community and had served as President of the Webster County Fair Board for many years, he was the former Fire Chief with the Bladen Volunteer Fire Department and a longtime member of the Saddle Club. Ed possessed a strong work ethic and was happiest when he was busy working with his hands. He enjoyed carpentry work and fixing just about anything that was broken. In his leisure time Ed looked forward to coffee and fellowship with his friends and attending area auctions.

Preceding him in death were his parent and his wife, Carol on September 17, 2021.

Left to treasure his memory are his children, Brenda Jones; Troy Jones and wife, Renae and their daughter, Kassi; Dave Jones and Heidi Jones and Jeremy; his brother, Andy Jones; other relatives and his many friends

Funeral services were Tuesday, 10:30 am, May 3, 2022, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Campbell, Nebraska with the Rev. Greg Volzke officiating. Interment was at the East Lawn Cemetery in Bladen.
