Gerald Figgins Obituary

Gerald R. Figgins went home to be with the Lord on October 14, 2021. He was 83 years old. He died of a broken heart. After his wife, Donna, died all he wanted was to be with her.

Gerald was born March 4, 1938 in Burr Oak, Kansas to Frieda (Spooner) and Ezra Figgins. He received his formal education attending the Red Cloud schools. Gerald joined the United States Army in 1956, and was stationed at Ft. Lewis, Washington. On April 19, 1957 he was united in marriage with the love of his life, Donna Hoffman.  They lived in Washington until 1959, and Arizona until the spring of 1962, when they moved to Bladen, Nebraska. In February of 1967, they moved to Hastings, Nebraska.  This union was blessed with three children, Marlene, Darrel and William.

In 1981, they founded Figgins Construction. In 1983, they moved to Red Cloud, Nebraska and made their home there since that time.

Gerald had several hobbies. He loved to hunt and fish. Most of all he loved being out with his construction crew.

Preceding him in death were his wife, Donna Figgins; his parents, Ezra and Frieda Figgins; a brother Ronald Figgins; a sister, Dixie Wilkerson and a brother-in-law, Gary Lewis.

Left to cherish his memory are his daughter, Marlene and husband Clint Baker of Red Cloud; sons, Darrel and William Figgins of Red Cloud; grandsons, Austin, Taylor and Dylan; granddaughters Amberly, Lynn Marie and Rebecca; great grandchildren, Caleb, Kay, Jalyn, Jade, Kimmy, Nathan, Hunter and Kal; great-great granddaughters Maria and Elena. He is also survived by his brother, Billy Don (Jessie) of Santa Maria, California; sister Bonnie Becker (Mike) of Gypsum, Kansas; sister-in-law Charlotte Figgins of Hastings, Nebraska; brother-in-law, Dee Wilkerson of Arizona as well as many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
