Ilene G Booton

Ilene G. Booton, the daughter of Goldie Elizabeth (Gouldie) and Albert Lawrence Baetz, was born January 23, 1927 in Smith County, Kansas. She departed this life on Monday, December 16, 2019 at Mt. Carmel Home in Kearney, Nebraska at the age of 92 years, 10 months and 23 days.

Ilene received her formal education graduating from the Franklin High School with the class of 1945. On August 29, 1946 she was united in marriage with Lawrence Albert Booton at Smith Center, Kansas. This union was blessed with a son, Loren.  Ilene was employee with Ralph & Gertrude Steiner at the café in Franklin, and later worked for Naden’s Drug Store and Garten’s Grocery Store. They made their home on the farm in Smith county until 1956, when they moved to Webster county, Nebraska. In 1974, Lawrence and Ilene moved into Red Cloud to live. Ilene was a former member of the United Brothern Church and the Red Cloud Congregational Church.

In her leisure time she enjoyed sewing, crocheting, embroidery, quilting and working in her garden. Ilene was happiest when she was working on the farm and being outdoors.

Preceding her in death were husband, Lawrence Booton on April 27, 2011 and a brother, Leland Baetz.

Surviving are her son, Loren Booton and wife Janet of Gibbon, Nebraska; 3 granddaughters, Chilene Black and husband, Bart; Shena Booton and Amber Medina and husband, Carlos; 3 great grandchildren, Christian and Nathan Booton and Nia Thompson; 2 sisters, Mildred Daniels of Franklin, Nebraska and Norma Schriner of Holdrege, Nebraska; other relatives and friends.

Funeral services were Friday, 11:00 am, December 20, 2019 at the Williams Funeral Home in Red Cloud with the Rev. Gary Bennett officiating. Interment was at the Greenwood Cemetery in Franklin, Nebraska.
