James Doyle Obituary

James Ross Doyle, 88, of Guide Rock, Nebraska passed away peacefully in his sleep on Monday, February 27, 2023. He was born October 12, 1934, in Rule, Texas, the oldest child to Ross and Etha (Carter) Doyle. He lived in Palo Pinto County, Texas for seven years, then the family moved to Ft. Smith, Arkansas and Savannah, Oklahoma. The family moved to Nebraska in 1948, where he attended school in Guide Rock. He began working in 1948, at the age of 14. In 1953, he joined Bushman Construction and contributed early work on the building of Sherman Dam near Loup City.

James married Miriam Patterson on May 24, 1953, in Guide Rock, Nebraska. His passing comes just three months shy of their 70th Anniversary. To this union three children were born, Debra, Sheri and Kevin.

His construction work led the family to live in Superior, Cambridge, Hardy and Palisade; finally settling in St. Paul where the family lived while his children grew. He owned and operated Doyle Construction for several years, then worked for Givens Construction and BRB Construction of Kansas. He worked in Nebraska, Kansas, Oklahoma, Texas, New Mexico, Colorado, Michigan, Ohio and Arkansas. In 2008, James retired from BRB and he and Miriam returned to Guide Rock. Not one to sit idle, Jim worked occasionally well into his 80’s for KenWorks, Inc., Lemburg Tree Removal and Don Duffy.

In his leisure time Jim enjoyed fishing, bird watching and hunting Morel mushrooms along the banks of the Republican River.

Preceding him in death were his parents; all four siblings, Joe, Barbara, Audyne and Larry; and grandchildren Jessica Hatten and Jeremy Lemburg.

Surviving are his wife, Miriam of Guide Rock; daughters, Deb Lemburg of Wolbach, Sheri (Kenny) Lukasiewicz of Ayr, and son, Kevin Doyle of Hebron; grandchildren, Audrey (Brad) Thomsen, James (Denise) Lemburg, granddaughter-in-law, Retha Lemburg; Matt (Summer) Lukasiewicz; Lacey (Jon) Hughes; Lindsey (Travis) Haden; Trent (Anneka) Lukasiewicz; 19 great grandchildren; 1 great-great granddaughter, with a great-great grandson due in June.
