James Rust Obituary

James Dale Rust was born April 9, 1940 to Lillian and Homer Rust in Superior, Nebraska.  He departed this life on Thursday October 31, 2019 at the Good Samaritan Center in Superior, Nebraska at the age of 79 years, 6 months and 22 days.

 He attended Superior Public Schools through 10th grade when he enlisted in the US Army and finished high school in the Army.    During his time in the Army he was stationed in Alaska and Virginia. 

He was married to Sharon Kay Fringer on October 4th, 1959 in Guide Rock, Ne.  To this union three children were born.  Following active duty service in the Army Jim returned to Superior where he resided until death on October 31, 2019. During this time he worked over 20 years for the Ideal Cement Plant.  He enlisted in the Kansas National Guard in 1979 and served part time until 2000.

After the cement plant closed he worked briefly for Nuckolls County before entering service as a policeman for the City of Superior for many years. 

Jim was a car enthusiast his entire life. When he was younger he enjoyed hunting, fishing, and boating.  He loved spending time with his family and lit up when his grandkids or great grandkids were around. 

He was baptized, confirmed, and a lifelong member of Centennial Lutheran Church, Superior.  He was also a member of the American Legion, the Sons of American Legion, and the Masons.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Homer and Lillian Rust.

Survivors include his wife, Sharon of Good Samariation Home Superior, brother Robert (Bob) Rust, sister Cindy Meyer, son Robert Rust (Bobby) of Blue Hill, daughters Terry Allard of Anchorage, AK and Elaine Crawford of Lincoln.  Five grandchildren, Cody Effenbeck of Deshler, Garrett Effenbeck of Hebron, Autumn Effenbeck of York, Robby Allard of Colorado Springs, CO and Amanda Allard of Anchorage, AK and three great grandchildren, Addison Effenbeck and Kipton Effenbeck of Deshler and Bennett Calvert of York with another great grandson expected in February.

Services will be held on Tuesday 1:00 PM, November 5, 2019 at the Centennial Lutheran Church in Superior, Nebraska.  Pastor Robert Hopkins will be officiating.  Visitation will be held on Monday from 11 am to 8 pm with the family present to greet callers from 6 pm to 8 pm.  Burial with military honors will be held at the Evergreen Cemetery in Superior, NE.  Memorial may be given to the DAV or Nebraska Peace Officers Association.  Condolences may be sent to the family at wmsfh.com.  Williams Funeral Home of Superior, NE is in charge of the arrangements.
