Janice Sue Baden passed away at the age of 66 on June 18, 2021 in Kansas City, Kansas. Janice, known as Jan, was born on June 30, 1954 in Hebron, Nebraska to Helen and Albert Hoops.
Jan grew up on the family farm outside of Byron, Nebraska. She graduated from Byron High School in 1972. On December 28, 1981, Jan married the love of her life Leo Otto Baden. They raised two sons, Nicholas and Joshua, together in Colby, Kansas.
Jan had a passion for baking. She made the best desserts, especially Christmas cookies. She was a lover of music, including the Beatles and the Carpenters. Jan attended several concerts during her years to many bands and music artists. Jan loved to travel. She traveled with Leo all around the country. She was also great at playing cards, often winning against family all the time. She always enjoyed playing games with the family. She was known for her smile, her incredible memory, her attention to detail, and her love of family.
Jan was preceded in death by her brother DeWayne, her father Albert, and mother Helen. She is survived by her husband Leo, her two sons, Nick and Josh, and three grandchildren.
A funeral service will be held at St. Peters Lutheran Church in Byron, Nebraska on June 25, 2021 at 1 p.m with Pastor Keith Brozek officiating. Burial will be held in the St. John's Lutheran Cemetery (rural Byron). Flowers and donations may be sent to the family at wmsfh.com.
