James Lee "Jim" Brown, the son of Mary Louise (Fitz) and Percy L. Brown, was born April 2, 1954 at Boulder, Colorado. He departed this life on Tuesday, January 28, 2020 at the Mary Lanning Hospital in Hastings, Nebraska at the age of 65 years, 9 months and 26 days.
Jim received his formal education attending rural school district #51 in Webster County and the Hastings High School. He then worked with the railroad for a period of time and later started a construction company in Hastings. Jim later returned to the Red Cloud area where he was employed with Chief Electric for over forty years until his retirement.
In his leisure time he enjoyed motorcycles, cars, hunting in the Republican River Valley and the company of his dog. He especially enjoyed taking long drives and exploring the countryside. He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. Jim's personality was pervaded by his soft spoken nature and his immeasurable desire to help and serve others. He will be deeply missed by all who had the pleasure to know him.
Preceding him in death were his parents, Percy L. and Mary Louise Brown, and a sister, Sandra Crookston.
Left to cherish his memory are his brother, Henry Brown of Hastings, Nebraska; sisters, Louise Crookston and husband Paul of Pinedale, Arizona; Gayle Thompson and husband, Doug, of Oconto, Wisconsin and Ruth Stephens and husband Scott of Green Bay, Wisconsin; other relatives and his many friends.
Funeral services were Monday, 10:30 am, February 3, 2020 at the Williams Funeral Home in Red Cloud with Bishop James Bono officiating. Interment was at the Red Cloud Cemetery.
Memorials are suggested to the Webster County Food Bank.
