Joe Delimont Obituary

Joseph Edgar Delimont, the son of Eli and Marvel M. (Wilson) Delimont, was born February 3, 1932, on a farm in rural Almena and died on January 26, 2024, at the Mitchell County Hospital in Beloit, Kansas at the age of 91.

Joe grew up on the family farmstead in Norton County near Almena, where he attended the rual school and later moved into town and attended Almena schools. He joined the United States Army in July 1955, and served until 1957, as a mechanic, spending one year of his service in Germany. After returning from Germany, Joe and family resided in Norton until 1961, when they moved to Lebanon, Kansas, where Joe worked as a mechanic and then owned and operated Joe’s 66 service Station while raising three children. In 1983, Joe was united in marriage with Esther Reynolds and they made their home in Lebanon.

Joe was a member of the United Methodist Church, he served on the volunteer fire department and on the Lebanon city council. In later years Joe volunteered his time with projects around town mowing at the church and at the US Center. He loved his family, he loved Lebanon, and the people of Lebanon very much.

Preceding him in death were his parents; a baby sister; two sisters; a brother and their spouses, and daughter, Diana (Reynolds) Hembree.

Surviving are his wife, Esther Delimont of Beloit, Kansas; children, Leta (Delimont) Landwehr and husband, Mike, of Wichita, Kansas; Rany Delimont and wife, Kristy, of Victoria, Kansas; Wiley Delimont and Travis Eckles of Mission, Kansas; David Reynolds and wife, Ila, of Ingalls, Kansas, and Bob Hambree of Garden City, Kansas. Also surviving are grandchildren, Ryan Landwehr, Diana (Delimont) Staley and husband, Tony; Chris Landwehr, Cuyler Delimont, Nathan Delimont and wife, Allison, and Jason Hembree; 16 great grandchildren; 4 great-great grandchildren; other relatives and friends.

Services were Thursday, 11:00 am, February 1, 2024, at the United Methodist Church in Lebanon with the Rev. Les Ellis officiating. Interment will be at 3:30 pm at the Locust Hill Cemetery in Rush Center, Kansas.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the Lebanon United Methodist Church or the Lebanon Community Library.
