John William Adams

John William Adams the son of William Roy and Margaret Elizabeth (Ford) Adams was born June 27, 1924 in Oak, Nebraska.  He peacefully departed this life on Thursday February 21, 2019 in Omaha, Nebraska at the age of 94 years.

John was the sixth of seven children.  They lived in rural Nora, Nebraska where John graduated from Nora High School in 1941. Following high school, John enlisted in the Navy where he was a member of the Seabee unit in Bermuda.  During his two years of service with the Navy he was awarded the Victory Medal.

John was married to Wanda Lee Thayer on February 23, 1947; they were married sixty-nine years and ten months at the time Wanda departed this life on December 23, 2016.  John and Wanda made their home in Superior, Nebraska.  They had three daughters and one son.  John worked for the United States Postal Service in Superior, Nebraska for 34 years.  After retirement, he worked part time at the Williams Funeral Home.  John enjoyed being outdoors and tending to his garden.  John also enjoyed spending time with his family.

John is survived by his daughters Kay (Max) Adams of Omaha, NE, Becky (Dave) South of Omaha, NE, and Tami Kowalke of Lincoln, NE; daughter-in-law, Carol Adams of Omaha, NE; eight grandchildren, and fifteen great grandchildren. 

John was preceded in death by his parents, six siblings, wife Wanda, son Kenny, and son-in-law Krage Kowalke. 

Funeral services were Tuesday 11:00 AM February 26, 2019 at the United Methodist Church in Superior, Nebraska with Pastor Natalie Faust officiating.  Interment with military honors was at the Evergreen Cemetery. .
