John F. Soucek, the son of John and Alice (Kvasnicka) Soucek, was born August 24, 1929 at Bladen, Nebraska. He departed this life on Tuesday, August 22, 2023, at the Heritage Care Center in Red Cloud, Nebraska at the 93 years, 11 months and 28 days.
A lifelong resident of the Bladen area, John received his formal education attending and graduating from the Bladen schools. He was united in marriage with Lorna Jeanne Pavelka on December 8, 1950. This union was blessed with three children, John “Pete”, Joni and Jeanne. John was a dedicated farmer and stockman and with his wife constantly beside him, they worked their farm together and raised their family.
John always took a vested interest in his community and served with the Bladen Volunteer Fire Department and was elected to multiple terms as a Webster County Commissioner. In his leisure time he enjoyed hunting, fishing, and taking trips to the Sandhills of Nebraska turkey hunting. He always raised a large garden and looked forward to sharing his garden crop with friends and neighbors. His greatest love and enthusiasm, however, was for his family and he especially cherished the time they spent together.
Preceding him in death were his parents; his wife, Lorna, on July 11, 2023; daughter, Joni Soucek; son-in-law, Brad Kral, and brothers, James and Charles Soucek.
Left to treasure his memory are his son and daughter-in-law, Pete and Joyce Soucek; daughter Jeannie Kral; five grandchildren, ten great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives and a host of friends.
Graveside services were Monday, 4:00 pm, August 28, 2023, at the Cloverton Cemetery with Pastor John Mueller officiating.
