Joni Soucek

Joanne Kay “Joni” Soucek, the daughter of John Frank and Lorna Jeanne (Pavelka) Soucek, was born June 14, 1955, at Hastings, Nebraska. She departed this life on Thursday, June 30, 2022, surrounded by her family at her home at Bladen, Nebraska at the age of 67 years and 16 days.

A lifelong resident of the area, Joni received her formal edcuation attending the Bladen schools, graduating with the class of 1973. She possessed a passion for horses and began her career as a pen rider working for the Fort Kearney Feedlot and then was employed with Garnett Pfifer at the Webster County Feedlot. For many years Joni was the track photographer with Fonner Park in Grand Island and followed the Thoroughbred Racing Circuit through Nebraska as the official photographer. In later years Joni returned home to Bladen where she dedicated her time as a caregiver for her parents.

Joni cherished her time on the farm and working with the animals. She lovingly taught her nieces and nephews to ride and she was happiest when she was spending time with her family. Joni will be lovingly remembered for her kindness and compassion for her family and friends.

In her leisure time she enjoyed gardening, landscaping, growing her flowers, decorating and painting. Her love for her family and nature was immeasurable and she will be fondly remembered by all who knew her.

She was preceded in death by her brother-in-law, Brad Kral.

Left to treasure her memory are her parents, Lorna and John Soucek; her brother and sister-in-law, Pete and Joyce Soucek; sister, Jeannie Kral, her nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.
