Joseph Michael Beaumont

Joseph Michael Beaumont completed his earthly journey June 24, 2021, at the age of 77 years.  He passed away at his home in Wichita, KS.  Mike was born January 12, 1944, to Joseph and Mary (Alley) Beaumont in Creston, IA. His nickname in childhood was “Micky”.  His great Aunt Emma Beaumont always called him Micky.  He attended grade school in Creston until 4th grade in 1953, when the family moved to Superior, NE.  His family came to manage the new Brown’s Shoe Fit store, where Mike also worked during high school. His parents always said he was a good salesman.   Mike graduated with the Superior High School Class of 1962.

In 1963, Mike entered the US Airforce.  It was during his time serving in Olathe, KS, he met and married Dana Johnson.  They had three children, Todd, Michelle and Brandon.  They lived in Olathe, Superior, Huron, SD, Emporia, KS and finally Kearney, NE. Mike worked at Ideal Market and Superior Coke Company in Superior.  And for Brown’s Shoe Fit in Huron, Emporia and Kearney.  Later he worked for Rockwell Industries in Kearney.

After Mike and Dana divorced, he met and married Marie (Starr)Gibbons in January, 1982.  Mike and Marie and her three daughters, Michele, Carrie and Shannon moved to Tulsa, OK for a short time before settling in Wichita, where he was employed by Myers Brothers in sales until his retirement. 

During his time in Kearney, Mike enjoyed spending time with his children at the nearby Platte River, fishing, swimming, and camping.  Later, he enjoyed time with family, vacations and playing extra rounds of golf.  He also liked walking at the mall and coffee time with friends.  Mike was a prankster with a quirky sense of humor never far from the surface.  He remained positive during his battle with COPD and never lost his sense of humor.  Mike could remember and repeat many jokes. And he was a pro at playing Words with Friends online.

Mike was preceded in death by his parents, Joe & Mary, numerous aunts and uncles and several cousins.  He is survived by his wife of almost 40 years, Marie, Wichita, KS, brother, Rodger (Jamie) Oak Harbor and sister, Mary (Bill) Superior.   Children, Todd, Anamosa, IA; Michelle, Omaha, NE and Brandon (Mertie) Ashland, NE.  Stepdaughters, Michele (Mike), Kearney, NE, Carrie (Mike) Wichita, KS and Shannon (Jeff) Valley Center, KS.   Grandchildren, Ashlie, Ethan, Kylie, Alyssa and Chase.  Great grandchildren, Kruse; Ava; Easton; Arianna; Malachi, Naomi; Jedidiah; Garrett and Elliott.   Step grandchildren, Alexis, Austin, Adam, Dylan, Mandy &     Ethan.  Step great grandchildren Brynn, Adalynn; Anderson; Kade and Willow.

Memorial services will be  held Saturday 2:00 pm Augsut 7, 2021 at the United Methodist Church in Superior, NE.  Rev. Natalie Faust will be officiating.  Private family burial.
