Kylie J. (Latta) Dunkin

June 29, 1941 ~ September 12, 2023 (age 82) 82 Years Old

Obituary

Kylie Jean Dunkin, the daughter of George Russell and June (Malick) Latta, was born June 29, 1941 in Webster County, Nebraska. She departed this life on September 12, 2023, at The Ambassador in Lincoln, Nebraska at the age of 82 years, 2 months and 13 days.

She grew up in the Cowles community and attended school in Red Cloud where she graduated with the Class of 1959. She completed her formal education at Kearney State Teachers College where she earned her Bachelor’s Degree. Kylie taught school for a time at both Wood River and then with the Red Cloud public schools. She was united in marriage with Jimmy L. “Jim” Dunkin on July 19, 1964, at the United Methodist Church in Red Cloud. This union was blessed two daughters, Deanna and Lynnette. They made their home in Ft. Collins, Colorado where Jim was employed in various construction work. In 1990, they returned to the Red Cloud area to make their home.

Kylie was a loving and dedicated wife, mother and grandmother. She was especially excited returning to Nebraska to be involved in the lives of her grandsons. For several years she worked in the area as a representative with Shaklee health care products. In her leisure time Kylie enjoyed sewing, tending to her flowers and perusing the internet. Her greatest love in enthusiasm in life, however, was always for her family and she especially cherished the time they spent together.

Preceding her in death were her husband, Jim, on June 27, 2017; her parents, Russell and June Latta; and three brothers, Steve Latta, George Elwood Latta, and James Latta.

Left to treasure her memory are her daughters, Deanna Shipman and husband, Monte of Juniata, Nebraska, and Lynnette Dunkin of Las Vegas, Nevada; two grandsons, Dustin Reed and fiancé, Trina Knight, of Manhattan, Kansas; and Drew Reed and fiancé, Brandy Wood, of Hastings, Nebraska; a great grandson, Brycen Lee Reed; other relatives and a host of friends.
