Larry E Edgar

Larry Eldon Edgar, the son of Elsie M. (Schriner) and Verle E. Edgar, was born March 19, 1947 at Riverton, Nebraska. He departed this life following a long battle with Parkinson’s Disease  on Sunday, March 8, 2020 at the UNMC Hospice House in Omaha, Nebraska at the age of 72 years, 11 months and 29 days.

Larry was a lifelong resident of the area, receiving his formal education attending Spring Valley country school, two years at the Riverton High School and then graduated from the Franklin High School with the class of 1965.  Larry then attended Universal Trade School in Omaha. He was united in marriage with Rosemarie Blankenbaker on August 15, 1965 at Inavale, Nebraska. This union was blessed with three sons, Larry Jr., Mike and Brad. Larry was employed as a mechanic with Ely’s Service in Red Cloud and was later employed as a truck driver with Jensby Trucking at Hardy. He worked for five years with the Guide Rock public schools as custodian and also ran a dairy operation. The last twenty years of employment were with the Webster County Road Department, retiring in 2016.

In his younger years Larry possessed a passion for stock car racing. He enjoyed playing cards and the guitar.  His greatest love in life was for his family and he especially cherished their time together.

Preceding him in death were his parents, Elsie and Verle Edgar; two brothers, Stanley and Rodney, and two sisters, Kay Webber and Robert Herschouer.

Left to treasure his memory are his wife, Rose Edgar of Guide Rock, Nebraska; sons and daughters-in-law: Larry Jr. and Melissa Edgar of Blue Hill, Nebraska; Mike Edgar of Syracuse, Nebraska and Brad and Amy Edgar of Lincoln, Nebraska. Also surviving are 5 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren: Ashlee and Lance Duester and children, Paislee, Lillian and Noah; Corey Morgan, Bo Edgar, Avery Edgar and Lleyton Edgar; a sister, Regina Simpson; other relatives and a host of friends.

Memorial services were Friday, 11:00 am, March 13, 2020 at the Williams Funeral Home in Red Cloud with the Rev. Dan Albers officiating.

Private family interment will be held at a later date.

A memorial fund has been established by the family for later designation.
