LeRoy Wayne Hartman, the son of Lloyd and Mary (Collins) Hartman, was born August 31, 1940, at Red Cloud, Nebraska. He departed this life on April 21, 2024, at Hastings, Nebraska at the age of 83 years, 7 months and 20 days.
A lifelong resident of the area, LeRoy received his formal education attending the Red Cloud schools. On June 5, 1960, he was united in marriage with Una Linton at Red Cloud. This union was blessed with three children. LeRoy was employed with the Farmers Co-op Association and the Red Cloud Cheese Plant for a period of time before starting his career with the Bostwick Irrigation District. He worked as a field supervisor until his retirement in 2008. In 2012, LeRoy and Una moved to Hastings to make their home.
In his leisure time he pursued a number of interests and activities including hunting, fishing and woodworking. His great love and enthusiasm in life was for his family and he especially treasured the time they spent together.
Preceding him in death were his parents; two sisters, Norma Amack and Dorothy Small; a brother, Jimmie Hartman; and a grandson, Cody Richards.
Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Una, of Hastings, Nebraska; his children and grandchildren: Deb Kallhoff and husband, Ron, of Elyria, Nebraska, and children Matt Kallhoff, and Megan Fichter and husband, Randy, and their children, Lexi and Skylar; Connie Richards and husband, Brad, of Oologah, Oklahoma, and sons, Tyler and Tanner, and LeRoy’s great granddaughter, Devvyn; and Brian Hartman and wife, Amy, of Broken Bow, Nebraska and sons, Collin Hartman and wife, Mary Kate, and daughters, Harper and Holland; and Zach Hartman and wife, Carissa, and son, Carter. Also surviving are other relatives and a host of friends.
A memorial service was held Friday, 3:00 pm, April 26, 2024, at the Good Samaritan Community Center at the Good Samaritan Village in Hastings.
Private family inurnment will be at the Red Cloud Cemetery at a later date.
