Leah Lynne (Niblo) Deisley

Leah Lynne Deisley, the daughter of Bill and Alma (Roth) Niblo, was born September 5, 1945, at Red Cloud, Nebraska. She departed this life on July 5, 2023, at the Mary Lanning Hospital in Hastings, Nebraska at the age of 77 years and 10 months.

A lifelong resident of the area, Leah attended and graduated from the Red Cloud schools. She completed her formal education attending the University of Nebraska in Lincoln. She was united in marriage with Howard Allen Deisley on September 19, 1964, at Red Cloud. This union was blessed with three children, Sam, Bill and Leslee.

Making their home in the Red Cloud community, Leah was employed as a secretary with attorney, Bary Sprague. Later, Howard and Leah owned and operated the South Bar, where she enjoyed cooking and serving their customers. Leah was elected Webster County Clerk and served two terms. She later moved to Hastings where she worked with Caldwell-Banker; the Alexander Law Office and the Hastings Housing Authority. For over 25 years she co-owned with Ben Pegg, the Plainsman Restaurant at Juniata, retiring in 2019, and returned to Red Cloud that year.

Leah pursued a number of interests and activities in her leisure time including cooking, gardening and canning. She possessed a lifelong strong work ethic and was happiest when she was serving and working with people. Her greatest love and enjoyment in life was for her family and she especially cherished attending ball games and following the activities of her grandkids. A loving wife and mother she worked hard on the farm and loved following her children’s involvement with Little Britches Rodeo.

Preceding her in death were her parents, and her husband, Howard, on October 27, 2021.

Left to treasure her memory are her children, Sam, Leslee and Bill Deisley; grandchildren, Lane, Josee, Jake, Cody and Dayna; her sister, Sherry Hutson of Red Cloud, nieces, nephews, other relatives and a host of friends.

Services were Tuesday, 10:30 am, July 11, 2023, at the Williams Funeral Home in Red Cloud with Jeff Ord officiating. Interment was at the Red Cloud Cemetery.

A memorial fund has been established for later designation.
