Linda Riemersma

Linda Ann Riemersma, the daughter of Donald and Irene (Kallhoff) Hart, was born October 9, 1953, at Omaha, Nebraska. She departed this life on November 5, 2023, at the Mary Lanning Hospital in Hastings, Nebraska at the age of 70 years and 26 days.

Linda grew up in the Omaha metro area and received her formal education attending Omaha Cathedral High School, graduating with the class of 1971. Following her graduation she remained in the Omaha area where she was employed with the Mastercard Office Center. On August 9, 1975, she was united in marriage with Dennis Riemersma at Omaha. Shortly thereafter, they moved to Hamburg, Iowa where Denny had a teaching position. In 1979, the family moved to Red Cloud to make their home. Linda dedicated herself as a wife, mother and community worker and volunteer in the years to follow. She was actively involved with the Girl Scouts as a Leader and Council Member for all three of her girls for many years. She invested her time and talents for the youth in the community in a variety of ways including managing the city swimming pool for many years and teaching both swim team and swim lessons. At every home game she could be found at every basketball and volleyball game working the scorer’s table running the official clock for every game through the decades. For the past twenty-five plus years Linda has owned and operated the H&R Block tax service for area residents and most recently she has managed with Red Cloud Housing Authority.  She was a faithful member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church and Altar Society. Her greatest love and enthusiasm in life, however, always remained her family.

Left to cherished her memory are her husband, Dennis, of Red Cloud; three daughters, Michelle Huffman of Houston, Texas; Lynette Ehm and husband, Mike, of Phillipsburg, Kansas, and Beth Riemersma of Houston, Texas; five grandchildren, Dave Ehm, Nicholas Huffman, Taylor Riemersma, Jessica Lovell and husband, Timothy, and Jessica Gooder; a brother and sister-in-law, Dan and Linda Hart of Omaha, Nebraska, other relatives and a host of friends.

Funeral services will be Friday, 10:00 am, November 10, 2023, at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Red Cloud with the Rev. Paul Frank officiating. Interment will be at the Sacred Heart Cemetery in Red Cloud.  The rosary will be recited Thursday, 7:00 pm, November 9, 2023, at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church.

Visitation will be Thursday, 1:00 pm to 9:00 pm, and Friday, 8:00 am to service time.

In lieu of flowers the family requests that memorials be given to the Nebraska Children's Hospital.
