Lorna Jeanne Soucek, the daughter of Hugo and Elta (Alberts) Pavelka, was born June 3, 1930, in Webster County, Nebraska. She departed this life on July 11, 2023, at the Webster County Community Hospital in Red Cloud, Nebraska at the age of 93 years, 1 month and 8 days.

Lorna received her formal education attending and graduating from the Blue Hill schools. She was united in marriage with John Soucek on December 8, 1950. They were lifelong residents of the area. She was actively involved in every aspect of farm life including running to town for parts, helping move machinery from field to field, raising chickens, driving the grain truck at harvest time, cooking for the hired help, helping move cattle, and hauling hay bales.

Dedicated to her family, Lorna enjoyed following the activities of her children and grandchildren. She loved helping to raise her grandkids, enjoyed canning and cooking, cleaning the house, and planting and raising her garden.

Preceding her in death were her parents; her daughter, Joni, on June 30, 2022, son-in-law, Brad Kral, sister, Phyllis (Lyle) Stabenow, and a brother, Byron Pavekla.

Left to treasure her memory are her husband, John Soucek; son, Pete Soucek and wife, Joyce; daughter, Jeannie Kral; 5 grandchildren; nieces, nephews, other relatives and a host of friends.
