Loyce Jeffery Obituary

Loyce Leanne Jeffery, the daughter of Verda (Fogo) and Emmett Lewis was born on December 28, 1931, at Burr Oak, Kansas.  She departed this life at her home in Northbranch, Kansas, on October 5, 2021, at the age of 89 years and 10 months. She was a lifelong resident of the Northbranch and Burr Oak communities.

Loyce received her formal education at the Burr Oak schools, graduating in 1949. On November 25, 1951, she was united in marriage with her high school sweetheart, Kermit C. Jeffery, at the Northbranch Friends Church.  They made their home on the family farm at Northbranch and were blessed with four children - Mark, Juel, Jenelle, and Jennifer.

Loyce worked as the Burr Oak High School secretary during the time that Kermit was stationed in Germany with the U.S. Army.  Being a homemaker, her time was spent raising four children and traveling with Kermit on the family harvesting crew where she provided countless meals.  She enjoyed attending all her children’s and grandchildren’s sporting events and activities, traveling, and rocking and singing to her many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.  As Mom and Grandmother, Loyce traveled to all her children’s homes to help with each new grandbaby.  She had 14 grandchildren and 25 great-grandchildren.

Loyce loved helping others by her service at the church; she served on various committees at the church including the Women’s Missionary Society, she often made food for funerals and church dinners, she taught Sunday school, and she took great pride in keeping the church clean by serving as the janitor for many years.
