Mary Ann Gerten, age 82, of Bladen, passed away on March 21st, 2020, at Heritage Care Center in Red Cloud.
A Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, June 25, 2022, from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm at the Bladen Fire Hall.
Mary Ann Gerten, the daughter of Howard and Cloie (Wratten) James, was born in Webster Co., Nebraska on January 31st, 1938, and passed away in Red Cloud, NE on March 21st, 2020, at the age of 82 years.
Mary Ann grew up in Bladen and graduated from Bladen High School in 1955. Mary Ann married Eldon Kile on December 1st, 1956. They had five children; Michiael (Mike), Roxie, Mary Christina (Christy), Carla, and John. She worked for over 30 years at Grandview Manor in Campbell, Nebraska. On June 6th, 1992, she married Lloyd Gerten. With this union Mary Ann gained four step-sons; Joe, Tim, James(Jamie), and Anthony(Tony).
Mary Ann was dedicated to raising her children. She was a Sunday School teacher at Bladen United Methodist Church and member of the United Methodist Women. Until joining the Catholic Church in 1991. Mary Ann was a Girl Scout Leader for a Brownie Troop. She loved playing cards with friends and helping others whenever she could.
Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband Lloyd Gerten, sister-in-law Joan James, great granddaughter Charlee Ann Mohlman and many other loved family members.
Those left to treasure her memory are her children: Michiael (Barb) Kile of Bladen, Nebraska, Roxie (Tim) Obermier of Aurora, Nebraska, Christy (Gary) Verhoeff of Salina, Kansas, Carla Jameson(Philip Hernandez) of Bladen, Nebraska, John (Marla) Kile of Princeton, Missouri, Joe Gerten, Tim (Mel) Gerten of Sherrill, Iowa, Jamie Gerten of Sherrill, Iowa, Tony (Dana) Gerten of Fremont, Nebraska; 18 grandchildren and 21 great grandchildren; a brother, Richard (Dick) James of Ocala, Florida; nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.
Graveside interment service was Wednesday, March 25th, 2020, at St. Ann Catholic Cemetery in Campbell, Nebraska with The Very Reverend James Schrader officiating.
