Michael Dean Fenimore was born to Dean E. and Carol J. (Tyler) Fenimore on June 17, 1955 at the Brodstone Memorial Hospital. He passed away in the same building on October 25, 2020.
Mike attended Superior Public Schools for his entire school years, graduating with the class of 1973. During his senior year of high school, he took on an internship with Superior Motor Parts owned by Don Kronberg. The day after he graduated, he reported to the NAPA store in Fairbury, Nebraska also owned by Don Kronberg. Over the next 37 year,. until health issues forced him to retire, he worked for the stores in Fairbury, Washington and Mankato, Kansas and finally and mainly at the Superior location working for Alan Czirr. During those 37 years, as many a local mechanic would attest, you could not find anyone more loyal to NAPA parts.
One of Mike’s favorite pastimes was bowling. This led him to purchase an interest in Superior Bowl in 1995 forming a partnership with Ron Thayer. He eventually purchased Ron’s share in 2006. He was the sole owner/manager until, due to health issues, again he sold the alley in 2017.
One of the sources of personal satisfaction Mike had was his involvement in the Superior Volunteer Fire Department. This started when he joined in 1980. He was always proud to say that he was a third generation “fire fighter”. Over the 40 years he was with the department he held various offices including fire chief. His main duties in recent years was to head up the fund drive for the annual fireworks display.
He is preceded in death by his parents.
Survivors include his brother Jim Fenimore and Pam of Superior, NE; niece Taylor of Falls City, NE; nephew Ross and Brandy of Omaha, NE many friends including long time good friends Frankl Clyde, Lonnie Lemke and Dale Delka.
Memorial services were Saturday 1:30 pm November 14, 2020 at the Superior Country Club with Pastor Natalie Faust officiating. Inurnment with honors by the Superior Volunteer Fire Department was at the Evergreen Cemetery in Superior, NE.
The Fenimore family is asking everyone that will be attending to wear either Nebraska or Kansas City Chiefs clothing to honor Mike.
