Nathan (Danny) Russell Obituary

Nathan (Danny) Daniel Russell was born January 26, 1995 at Grand Island, Nebraska. He departed this life on Sunday April 19, 2020 at the Mary Lanning Health Care in Hastings, Nebraska at the age of 25 years.

Danny grew up on a farm south of Trumbull, Nebraska. He graduated from Adams Central High School with the class of 2016.  Danny had participated in the Special Olympics, therapeutic horse back riding, bowling and enjoyed the semi-truck yearly convoy.

Danny loved being with his family and always looked forward to meeting everyone he could.  Danny loved giving and getting HUGS!  He enjoyed trips to the park, the library and camping with the family.  Danny spent time riding his bike and assembling Lego blocks.  Danny’s game boy was never very far from him, he looked forward to movies especially Train and Teletubbies shows.

He is preceded in death by his grandparents: Bill and Carol Drake.

Survivors include his parents: Tom and Pam Russell of Trumbull, NE; brothers Matt Russell of Omaha, NE; Nolan (Robby) Russell of Hastings, NE; sisters Jamie Bachman and husband Michael of Giltner, NE and McKayla Russell of Trumbull, NE; nephews Aiden Russell and Jacob Bachman; nieces Emily, Abby and Riley Bachman; and grandparents Tom and Claudette Russell of Riverton, NE.

Danny loved the annual Semi-truck Convoy each year where the semi drivers would let him honk the horn.  Please join the family in “Honking to Heaven for Danny” Friday evening April 24th beginning at 5:00 pm.  Danny’s address: 2417 W 6th Street, Hastings; please turn east onto 6th street from Marian Road and honk as you drive by Danny’s home.  In lieu of flowers memorials may be directed to Live On Nebraska.  Condolences may be sent to the family at wmsfh.com.  Williams Funeral Home of Superior, NE is in charge of the arrangements.

We are implementing the Centers of Disease Control (CDC) recommendation of only allowing 10 people at a gathering at any time.  This includes funeral services, gravesides and all visitations.  The CDC recommends that all in-person public gatherings of more than 10 people be postpone or cancelled for the next eight weeks.  While we acknowledge the importance for public gatherings to honor the lives of loved ones, the CDC believes control of such public gatherings is one of the most significant resources that may slow the spread and impact of this pandemic.

We wish to continue to serve within these guidelines.
