Oliver Wayne Lunbery Jr., the son of Oliver Wayne and Mary (Kentop) Lunbery Sr., was born July 5, 1945 at Grant, Nebraska. He departed this life unexpectedly at his home in Red Cloud, Nebraska on November 3, 2023, at the age of 78 years, 3 months and 28 days.

Oliver spent his early childhood years growing up in western Nebraska and then moved to Colorado with his family where he completed his formal education. In 1966, he was united in marriage with Kathy Derr in Las Vegas, Nevada. They made their home together in Arvada, Colorado where Oliver worked as a mechanic and also drove a mixer truck. In 1974, they moved to Westminster, Colorado and in 1979, returned to Nebraska to live in the Red Cloud community where he was employed with Red Cloud Concrete. He later went back to work as a mechanic with Bill Delka’s Garage in Guide Rock and then with Ely’s Service in Red Cloud. Oliver then opened Olli’s Garage, which he operated until they moved to North Dakata. They later moved back to Colorado where he drove a truck for M&M Concrete and in 2020, they came back to Red Cloud to live.

Oliver possessed a lifelong love of cars and loved his time not only working on cars but also driving stock cars for a number of years at the Red Cloud Speed Bowl. He enjoyed hunting and fishing and also looked forward to relaxing and spending time at the casinos.

Preceding him in death were his parents and a sister, Arlene Heckman.

Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Kathy, of Red Cloud, Nebraska; his son and daughter-in-law, Oliver Jr. and Teresa Lunbery of Red Cloud, and his daughter, Debi Lunbery of Selby, South Dakota. Also surviving are five grandchildren, Chanelle (Christopher) Roegler, Gabrielle (Devon) Blaine, Stephanie Lunbery, Jessica Hartze and Oliver Wayne Lunbery IV; four great grandchildren, Kaiden Roegler, Mackenzie Roegler, Alex “A.J.” Converse Jr., and Michael Converse; five sisters, Darlene Terry, Marlene England, Sharlene Thieman, Pauline Heinze and Deana Carter; a brother, Alvin Lunbery, nieces, nephews and a host of friends.
