Phyllis (Mumm) Day

Phyllis Fern Mumm Day the daughter of James and Lucille Boyce Mumm was born on the family farm near Hubbell, NE on September 11, 1927.  She was one of two children.  She departed this life on September 18, 2021, at Bryan Medical Center East in Lincoln, NE at the age of 94 years and 1 week.

Phyllis attended country school by Hubbell, NE and graduated from Hebron High School with the class of 1945.

Phyllis was united in marriage to Donald Day on September 3, 1946, at Belleville, KS.  The celebrated 75 years of marriage residing in Hebron.  To this union four children were born: Kathy, Doug, Judy and Steve.

Along with being a homemaker.  Phyllis worked for the Lincoln Telephone Co. in Hebron until her retirement.  She was a great cook and loved to serve her family and friends.  Phyllis loved flowers and bird watching especially the wild turkeys that passed through their homestead.  If you ever talked to Phyllis, she would most likely use the phrase, “Well kid!”

She was a member of the VFW auxiliary.

She is preceded in death by her parents, sister and brother-in-law Betty and Ray Icenogle, brother-in-law Dean and Wini Day, sister-in-law Arlene Corliss and son-in-law Jerry Hudson.

She is survived by her husband Don of Hebron, NE; children: Kathy Hudson of Hebron, NE; Doug Day and wife Colleen of Billings, MT; Judy Olsen and husband Mike of Lincoln, NE; Steve Day and wife Paula of Hebron, NE; seven grandchildren:  Scott and Jennifer Day of Billings, MT; Kelly Clar and Garrett Parker of Hebron, NE; Rebecca Arnold of Hebron, NE; Curtis and Machell Day of Uvalde, TX; Nathan and Kristen Olsen of Lincoln, NE; and Alyssa Olsen and David Hower of Central Point, OR; ten great grandchildren: Carter and Harper Day; Chloe Clar and Clarabel Parker; Kaila and Autumn Barr; Haley, Addison and Keegan Day; and Weston Olsen; sister-in-law Betty Parker of Pasadena, CA; nieces, nephews other relatives and a host of friends.

Phyllis was cremated. A family celebration of life will be held at a later date.  Condolences may be sent to the family at: wmsfh.com.  Williams Funeral Home of Superior, NE is in charge of the arrangements.
